I can't remember when I wrote here last.
Anyway, if I didn't talk about my Sunday, it isn't really worth mentioning haha.
I went to work. The End.
Today was great. Monday, my day of 3 classes and no work. As an aside, I'm sick of work. I mean, I really need the money and working at the store isn't bad at all, don't get me wrong, but I want to concentrate on school!! I want to wake up and not worry about anything but going to campus strictly for school. I want this rush season to be over and if they do keep me on, I want no more than 12 hours a week-that being only for weekends! I am not going to work during the school week! I am so busy and now that I have seen almost all of my classes, my workload is so intense this year. Plus I have work for that professor still and I need to finish 5 more hours for him before I see him to pick up the new files-probably in a week. Eek!
I'm exhausted, really. Up by 6:15am, I leave by 7:30am and I am back by nighttime (well obviously I come home in the afternoon to walk the dog) and then do work/homework until it's late and I can function no longer. And that scant amount of time I have for work is *not* enough. My translations in Middle Egyptian alone are going to consume my hours.
Anyway, got ready, walked the dog at 6:50am (while the sun was rising, it was awful) I got to campus for 8am on the dot. We were meaning to get there by 7:45am, but that has not happened yet. Breakfast at the dining hall consisted of some scrambled eggs, a blueberry pancake, muesli cereal, orange juice, and tea. We walked casually over to the Athletic Centre for our morning workout (we, as in, me and Rob). I wasn't enthusiastic to work out at the moment because I had just eaten but I figured there would be no point in hanging around for an hour and then going and then rushing to class. I took my time in the change room, arranging my things in the locker, and went up to the Field House. I first engaged myself in a stair stepper for 10 minutes. Then I ran on the track for 15 minutes. Next was sit ups and a bit of highland dancing movements/stretches (gotta get back into it, toe is starting to heal), and some weight lifting on some of the machines there. Satisfied that I had made myself sweat enough haha, I went back down to the change room at 9:15 and showered and got dressed. I walked out of the AC and made my way down to Bancroft Hall and upstairs to the undergrad lounge where I read for a bit. Rob came by a half an hour later as I told him that was where I'd be. We went across the street to the dining hall and grabbed a tea and a snack before we both parted to get to our respective classes. He went to some economics class, and I went to Middle Egyptian.
We did the alphabet today. :p And then the lady came by with the course books and I parted with 45.00 precious dollars. :(
I proceeded to my dining hall again for a brief lunch. Some vegan soft taco and I ignored the ....gingered potatoes or whatever the hell the were, and rice, and had soup and skim milk. Halfway through, Rob came and sat with me for his lunch-which I didn't expect because his class was supposed to be way longer. They finished earlier. We sit in the same spot everyday so it's easy for us to find one another haha.
He went home and I went on to my next class, at guess where, Bancroft Hall. haha. This time, Intermediate Biblical Hebrew. Some people from last year were in it....but anyway, although most of my classes are small (middle egyptian about 23 people), this is my smallest class yet. Approx 15 people. We all sit around a big round table-with a few in the back of it, of course. I was intimidated just a little. I think it will be a good course and I love the material, so that is really good, but wow, it's going to be a heavy courseload. Simple vocab quizes every other week but we have to know every single form of the word(verb)!!! from Niphal to Hiphael. Bloody hell. I better start reviewing.
After my mind was numb from that class--oh and I had a headache...not used to people talking at me for so long...I simply went home. Walked the dog and had a snooze for 30 minutes. I shouldn't have, but I was so tired. I went back for dinner at 5pm and then to the infamous Bancroft Hall, for my last class of the day at 6pm. I forget the exam name of the class but it's basically Ancient Near Eastern Religions excluding Egypt (we have a seperate class for that). I hung out in the lounge for a bit too and yayy someone else from last year I hadn't seen yet was there, as she was taking the class too. In fact, about 5 of us were all friends from last year, so we monopolized one of the long tables at the back. It was great. The class is packed. I'm not used to having a class of over 30-40 people :p Anyway, the class looks pretty good, today was all basics for all the stupid non-nmc people in the course. All review for me. But the prof is hilarious. but DAMMIT, I have to buy a course reader for the course!!! I hoped it was only those books I bought for it. Nooooo!!! More money I need!! ..but...Yayy and my good friend, who was also at our table, is going to drop her Modern Hebrew course because it's too advanced for her (took intro in the summer) and is going to take Middle Egyptian too! Wahoo someone to study with!!
So I came home and walked the dog and I just had some toast and an apple and man..10pm....I feel like I'm going to pass out but I should do some work.
....I have to be up at 6am tomorrow...work at 8:40am tomorrow and I have the Celtic Literature course...now I'm not sure if I want to take it and maybe take another NMC course hehe...err....bahhh I dunno. I'll see how the class goes and decide. I just don't want to risk my GPA...I am now in preperation-for-applying-to-grad-schools mode. Plus there are tons of grad courses I want to take even in my undergrad --obviously i'll only take 1 or 2..but i mean, some of the egyptian language ones like the late texts or hieratic..or there is meriotic..or or...babylonian...or ugaritic!!...i think that was only specially taught last year..bah..anyway.
All in all a very good but tiring day.
And again, my week would be so much better if I didn't have to squeeze a job in there too. :(
But need the money....
