I GOT IT!!
I got a work-study position with Dr. H________!!!!!! I went to meet him before my NMC380 class at his office and I gave him my resume. It was kind of akward because I don't know him and I haven't had a class with him since my first year...he seemed nervous as if I wasn't an arch student and would have to say no...
"So..are you..have you..some experience in...ohh I see, you are into this stuff" *as he looks at my list of courses taken on my resume*. LOL. I was glad that it was him, it made more sense, because I have more of a background in syria-palestininan archaeology stuff for some reason , and not egyptology like I said before. That is his specialization. Anyway, he said that ther was one spot open and he was doing things sort of as a first come first serve basis. I was lucky. I am glad I went when I did. He said 2 other people were interested, though (eek), but it sounded like they didn't follow through with anything yet so I guess it's their loss. I am really happy though. Finally, some experience in the field!! And money to boot! A job that is flexible!! SEE YOU IN HELL BOOKSTORE!!
Speaking of which, I have to work today :(
I decided to have breakfast at home (as I write) so that I can leave a bit later today.
Yesterday was my hectic Monday.
I went to campus for breakfast after walking the dog--this is a given, you should always expect this, no more will I mention it. I was going to go to the AC to workout but feck....if I did, I'd have 0 hours put in of homework. I went to Robarts Library instead and realized that I hadn't done my translation for int. biblical hebrew last week...and it was now Monday, the day I had class for it. Ohhh crap. Okay, translating a chapter takes about 7-8 hours, I kid you not, it is very intense, oh and add parsing to boot. I tried to do it in an hour. er...I got to the 2nd verse. Sigh. I blame work. At least I got a good chunk of my Mesopotamian Mythology classwork done. Yayy. Went to my 11am Middle Egyptian Class and then to lunch, which was crowded...so I ate fast and left. Int. Biblical Hebrew was next. I got called on and then passed on it because I didn't know. Sigh. This week, some hard work is going to go on. I started wishing I had taken Harrison's Pottery Anaylsis class which is at the same time. siigh. But no, languages is my focus, I must work harder!
Then I ran home and walked the dog. Back to campus for a 4:45pm supper by myself-Rob had run off to some philosophy meeting. At 5:20 I went to Bancroft and hung out in the lounge talking to people. I was going to read but I couldn't concentrate because I was nervous about talking to that prof. I went up and had the meeting with him and since you know how it went, I'll pass that over. I went back down for class and my friends had saved me a spot. I was giddy!!! Sooo happy I had the job! At least I think I do!!! :s
Anyway, class wore on and it was tiring. Went to the dining hall for a snack with Rob (he had class at the same time) at 9pm and we went home. I walked the dog and listened to the answering machine. I got a message from Hart House--I had called on Friday and left a message. They need bari saxes for their symphonic band and I am a bari player!! I played bari sax in jazz and concert band when I was grade 11. Good memories. I wanted to know if they had one I could borrow since obviously, who the hell owns a bari sax!! They do and so tonight around 6ish, after my Celtic Literature course, I am going for the open rehersal!! bari sax wahoo! no competition for me in auditions, like if I tried out for alto sax. Sweet. I hate competition,. Makes me nervous.
YYAYYYYYYYYy!!!
On a sad note, a family friend may have leukemia. :(
I hope the tests show that it is not as as serious as they think.
Well, I spilled my words on here for today, it is time to get ready for...work.
I'm nervous!! I hope my manager forgot that I wanted Saturday off and that I was sick on Saturday ahhh.
Although I think i AM getting sick! karma! oye :s
