So I'm trying to remember what has been going on for the past 2 days....lets see. Tuesday I had my Celtic Lit course which I decided to drop...Not because I didn't like it but because I am trying to be practical. I am really serious about applying to graduate school and I need all of the background I can get in this field and so I enrolled in the Ceramic Petrology course which I had been auditing. Especially when I'm doing all this work in it...
I decided not to join orchestra this year, after all. I have too much going on. Maybe next year. Finished my last shift at the Bookstore, thank goodness. I am free! and now I have a wicked job with my dpt-of course I better email my prof and tell him my hours! Oh and I bought a few books while I was there because of the end-of-rush discount for us employees, it was brilliant. 40% off. I didn't know what to get because I didn't expect it...so i got:
I needed the last one for a class and the previous one I purchased to better my understanding of how field work functions on a technical level.
um....
I'm using the AC at 9am now every day-I go running and etc.
Wednesday I took Neron to doggy daycare-he was very happy with that decision. I was too because today was my all-day-cram-fest on campus. After my middle Egyptian class, I basically spent 1:30-8:30pm in the library with my meals in between. I got tons done. I am a lot more focused lately! and my Hebrew translations/parsing is gettng faster! but not enough to do god damn 25 verses a week-is she INSANE? I'm going to talk to her. Me=stressed.
Today, I was supposed to have a 9am petrology lab but our prof never showed! He thought it was at 1pm. Oye. That man I swear...haha...I
got my first essay assingment in ARH360-Prehistory of the Near East. I decided to choose the topic on lithic analysis because it is in thin section and that's exactly what we are doing in my ceramics course...of course..on ceramics...but the raw materials are raw materials and it would be just perfect because I can work on it during my lab time for petrology.
I've been thinking about grad schools lately. A lot!! I'm trying to pick schools I am interested in..and also a field of specialization! I know I want ancient languages but I think I want to go towards my phd working on a language not completeley deciphered!!! Someone gave me a great idea of searching for research on that kinda thing, seeing who the scholars are and what university they are coming from...I don't really want to go to the US but they DO give out a lot of full scholarships...I want to go to England! But it depends on scholarship. 100%! and whether I can figure out how to go there with my dog. I can get my citzenship tehre, that would bring down the cost, since my nana is from there. According to the British Embassy, that is all I need to get it. Currently, considering Oxford, Swansea (in Wales), another school in Wales I forget :s, Durham, and yes....that's all I can remember.
Now here is a picture of me studying at the Earth Sciences library, looking very tired. See those dark circles under my eyes?
and then you can admire my personal scholarly library.
Bah, I also ordered my highland dancing ghillie pumps finally. ugh. I didn't want to spend the money but what can you do. My teacher will be happy though.
and a practice cd! yay!
